Last September, due to extraordinary stress, out of the blue, I had shingles at a younger age than is common. I’m fairly fit and committed to exercising just to keep all my body parts moving as I get older. I’ve worked with different personal trainers and was surprised that no one had told me about “scaption.”

Anyhow, my left deltoid was suddenly in bad shape before the blisters erupted and it wound up being the C5 nerve root. During and afterward, I had ALL the symptoms of a torn rotator cuff. I’d somehow become aware of Rick’s website and I am so glad I had. I purchased and downloaded his Effective Rotator Cuff Exercise program and am very proud to say that I did a subset of the exercises that were right for me – with dedication, for weeks – and now it is all FINE!

I have regained ALL of the function I’ve had, which is pretty astonishing given how bad it was. I had been aware that the nerves around my clavicle and scapula were freaked out during shingles, and somewhere in Rick’s materials, I read that when the signals to the scapula get fried, this gross imbalance occurs that mimics rotator cuff injury. I’m rather nerdy and need to understand what is going on, and I’ve been thrilled with what I learned and psyched that I rehabbed it (I was going to say “on my own,” but rather, it was with Rick!)
